FGHS BYOD

What is BYOD?

"Bring your own device" (BYOD) refers to technology models where students bring a personally owned device to school for the purpose of learning. A personally owned device is any technology device brought into the school and owned by a student (or the student's family), staff or guests" (Alberta Education, 2012).

BYOD is a solution where students bring their own laptop to school in order to access the internet and/or school network by 4G or

Wi-Fi.

What is BYOD at FGHS?

From Term 1, Week 1 2020, Francis Greenway High School will allow Year 7, Year 8, Year 11 and Year 12 students to bring their own device (laptop) to school. This BYOD Hub has been developed as a comprehensive online resource for parents and students, to help them through decisions, preparation and successful use of devices at school. Before students bring their devices they must have their parents/carers sign the BYOD Student Agreement form and allow our Technology Support Officer to install Veyon, a computer monitoring program to support teachers with classroom management.
